ALORS QU'À PARIS plusieurs musées -largement sponsorisés par les firmes multinationales-célèbrent la civilisation maya préhispanique…, au Guatemala les descendants des amérindiens sont les victimes de politiques néolibérales meurtrières. Sous la pression, entre autres, des compagnies pétrolières françaises.

Scandale culturel : désormais, les mayas «anciens» semblent plus intéressants que les indiensd'aujourd'huidont les communautés sont en passe d'être embaumées sous une misèreeffroyable…

Des dérives de l'art aux dérivés du pétrole revient ainsi sur une période incroyable, largement occultée : l'accaparement privé de la terre, des ressources et de l'Histoire. Comme hier, l'extraction du pétrole guatémaltèque se conjugue avec l'extraction de la civilisation maya…
